Councilwoman Gilmore's Story

photo of Stacie Gilmore

I believe we deserve to live in a community that has smart economic growth, jobs that lead to careers, and a beautiful neighborhood where the quality of life supports our family's health and well-being. I have over two decades of successful business and community service experience, recognized locally and nationally, and committed to making sure our community is represented on all issues affecting our quality of life.

I am a fourth generation Coloradan, born and raised in Brush, Colorado with Spanish, Mexican, and Greek heritage. I moved to Denver in 1989 and earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology and Chemistry from Metropolitan State College of Denver. As a Colorado Trust Fellow, I graduated summa cum laude from Regis University with a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Management.

I met my husband, Scott Gilmore in a Denver park teaching children how to fish in 1994. Scott and I have been homeowners in Montbello for the past 19 years and have three amazing children, Sterling-20, Samantha-18, and Serenity-12. Over the past decade our children have all attended Marrama Elementary School in Green Valley Ranch, where we have been active parents serving on the Collaborate School Committee (CSC).

For the past 20 years, I have been very involved in the Far Northeast community. In 1996, sitting around our kitchen table, Scott and I co-founded the nonprofit, Environmental Leaming for Kids (ELK). ELK cultivates a passion for science, leadership, and service in a diverse community of learners. In 2014, ELK was nationally recognized by the White House with the Champion of Change award for engaging and educating our youth about science and the outdoors, introducing them to careers, and supporting them during their transition from high school to college.

In 2008, working with other community members, we founded the Registered Neighborhood Organization, Montbello 2020. I have served since its inception as a co-chair, with Ms. Ann White. I have served for the past two years on the Denver Public Schools Bond Oversight Committee, in addition to volunteering with other organizations.

I am honored and humbled to be the Councilwoman for Denver City Council District 11.  I love our community!
