Paying online?

The City of Denver recently implemented a security enhancement to better protect our online payment processing system.  As a result of this enhancement, we are no longer able to accept payments from non-current browsers. If you are using an older browser version, please upgrade your browser to the most current version so that you can access the online payment service.

The Denver Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is proud of our low customer wait times following several key innovations led by DMV employees.  We even won a Yelp customer service award last year! The physical DMV locations process vehicle license plates and registrations (not drivers’ licenses, which are done at State of Colorado offices), handling nearly 1 million transactions annually. Back in 2011, our average wait time was approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.  Our goal is to be under 20 minutes on average each month, and we now hit that mark most of the time!

The Southeast (SE), Tremont, and Northwest (NW) locations typically have the shortest wait times, and wait times are generally even shorter on days in the middle of the month.

Mayor Michael B. Hancock created the Peak Performance program in 2011 to increase taxpayers' return on their investment in city government.

Peak partners with city departments/agencies to empower employees to improve their work processes through training, coaching and support.

Through 2017, these efforts have saved Denver over $25M, while also dramatically reducing wait times at locations such as the Department of Motor Vehicle, and signing up more than 25,000 users to customized online services like Pocketgov, shifting workload to lower cost channels.
