Platt Park is a Neighborhood Level recreation center located in the southeast area. Its facility features include:
SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
SilverSneakers® Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardio-vascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.
SilverSneakers® Yoga
Move through seated and standing yoga poses designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Finish with restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation to promote reduced stress and mental clarity.
Tai Chi
Often called "moving meditation," this class is a graceful form of exercise that helps reduce stress and improve overall health and well-being through stretching and gentle movement.
Yoga
This meditative practice includes longer holds to ignite the body’s internal heat and allow deep release to occur. Students learn to balance strength with flexibility and effort with surrender in each pose. Level I is for beginners. Level II includes more challenging movements.
